• Avoid acronyms.
• Explain specialized language.
• Provide a topic-specific vocabulary list for interpreters.
• Many non-native English speakers may be in the audience: speak slowly and clearly!
• Spanish and many other languages use 30% more words to communicate ideas than English, so even when the speaker goes at a moderate pace, interpretation is high speed.
• Pausing between paragraphs helps the audience digest information, especially when reading.
• Avoid reading if at all possible — extemporaneous speaking communicates your ideas more effectively.
